The Science of Getting Rich
What is your opinion on a person becoming rich? You know, becoming one of the “one percenters” the media talks about all the time. Some may think in order to become rich you must be selfish, greedy, and the root of all that is evil. Maybe, for some, becoming rich is a means for us to fulfill our life goals. How about someone who would like to become rich to give most or all of the money away? What ever your opinion may be I’d like to share with you some thoughts from a book we read in the Master Key Course, written by Wallace Wattles, titled “The Science of Getting Rich“.
Should a person strive to become rich?
Wattles writes, “The Science of Getting Rich, it is the noblest and most necessary of all studies. It is perfectly right that you should desire to be rich; if you are a normal man or woman you cannot help doing so. If you neglect this study, you are derelict in your duty to yourself, to God and humanity; for you can render to God and humanity no greater service than to make the most of yourself”.
He refers to scripture throughout the book to make his case that God wants you to become rich. “It is your Father’s pleasure to give you the Kingdom, said Jesus.” “Whatsoever things ye ask for when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them, said Jesus.”
He talks about assisting the poor as well.
“The poor do not need charity; they need inspiration. Charity only sends them a loaf of bread to keep them alive in their wretchedness, or gives them an entertainment to make them forget for an hour or two; but inspiration will cause them to rise out of their misery. If you want to help the poor, demonstrate to them that they can become rich; prove it by getting rich yourself.”
Now, should you still give food to the food banks? Of course. Should you still volunteer at the soup kitchen? Of course you should. Should you still donate clothes to the needy. Of course! Wattles is telling us that our main purpose should be to inspire the poor out of misery and into greatness.
Wattles explains in his book “there is a science of getting rich, and it is an exact science, like algebra or arithmetic”. The book is a real eye opener and I agree that a person should strive to become rich. If you have any desire as to better yourself financially I would encourage you to read The Science of Getting Rich.
