Do Your Best – Week 6
Mark J., of the Master Key Mastermind Alliance, says “Do your best! This is NOT to be mistakin’ for doing ‘the best you can’. Losers whine and say ‘I’ll do the best I can’. Winners just do their best!”
Coach John Wooden and his “Pyramid of Success” has been mentioned multiple times through this course thus far. If you haven’t heard of Coach John Wooden, I hadn’t heard of him until recently, he was referred by many and voted The Greatest Coach of All Time by his peers. He was noted, not only for his basketball coaching success at UCLA but, for coaching people in business and in life. I recommend looking him up…he was a remarkable human being!
Coach Wooden’s pyramid of success is made up of human traits and values that are needed to become successful. This was his guide to becoming great….at anything. Check out the pyramid here. The two cornerstones of the pyramid are Industriousness and Enthusiasm… Industriousness, meaning Hard Work, and Enthusiasm, showing intense and eager enjoyment in what you are doing. If you don’t have these cornerstones…chances are slim you’ll be successful.
Wooden’s definition of success is “peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming”.
I can see why Mark J, his wife Davene, and the rest of the crew talk about Coach Wooden and incorporate him into their course….they are truly doing their BEST to help us students become the best that we are capable of becoming!
